Business Talk September 12th 2013

You’ll find some useful links below that should help you come up with some more ideas for your mission statement. Take a few minutes and go over them.

First, writing a mission statement handout gives you a basic overview of how to put a mission statement together. Some of it we have already went over in class, but there’s also some relevant advice on there. For example, avoid a generic mission statement that any compant could have.

Next, writing a mission statement handout2 will give you some examples of how to write a mission statement in three easy steps. It includes a section that lists some core values (in other words – what your company stands for) that should help you when putting together your mission statement.

What language  and vocabulary you should use is also an important part of the process. There are two links that do just that. The first has over 100 key words for you to utilise MissionStatementVacabularyWorksheet and will definitely help you with this section and also further on in the process. The second is a bit more simplified, but still covers some key areas Mission Statement Keywords

Finally, there are some good examples of other mission statements in this handout, but mostly you should pay attention to the section “describe your purpose using unusual, colourful verbs and adjectives to spice up your statements. Drop in words like ‘passion’, ‘sizzle’, ‘outrageous’, ‘fun’…this should at least give you some ideas how to develop mission statement and examples

Remember, this project is a team effort. It’s important that as the weeks go by you should be delegating the tasks in the workbook amongst the team. It’s important that you share the assignments and keep in touch with one another as to your progress.

Do not hesitate to contact me at any time with a question or if you’re not sure of something. I’ll do my best to help you out.

Enjoy your weekend and see you on Tuesday ^^
